A pattern that kept repeating itself
S&dB was founded by agronomists who kept seeing the same problem in the field. Year after year, despite better machinery and improved inputs, growers struggled with one thing: inconsistent crop establishment right at the start of the season. When emergence is uneven, the ripple effects are significant - extra passes over the field, higher input costs, more reactive decision-making, and unnecessary pressure on soils.
The root cause
Many of these challenges don't stem from a lack of knowledge or effort. They start with small inconsistencies during the very first stage of crop development. Working closely with vegetable growers, the S&dB founders recognised that addressing this root cause, rather than managing its symptoms, was where the real opportunity lay.

S&dB was created with a clear mission: to make crop establishment more predictable and resilient. Today, S&dB works closely with growers and partners to develop
and validate practical solutions under real farming conditions. Guided
by agronomic insight and field experience, S&dB focuses on enabling
regenerative approaches that can be applied consistently and at
scale.
